Peter Godfrey, National President (2010), Engineers Australia
Mel Kettle spoke at a series of industry workshops on “Leveraging Your Business Around Social Media”. Mel was an extremely popular presenter out of our panel of industry experts in terms of content and speaker quality, and her knowledge and style was excellent. I recommend Mel as a high quality, entertaining and engaging speaker. I would also recommend her highly to any firm who wanted to improve their understanding of social media and learn how to leverage this to grow their business.
David Jordan, Principal Industry Development Officer, DEEDI
Mel’s session provided excellent background on the growing use of social media for business, delved into the various social media technologies, their use and demographics. Mel also presented some case studies and examples to help show the power of using social media for small business to build stronger relationships with clients and prospects and also generating leads. Mel showed how social media isn’t something to be scared of or daunted by. Mel’s presentation style was lively and engaging. I would strongly recommend Mel for businesses looking to gain an edge over their competitors.

I am not only very impressed with Mel’s understanding of marketing theory but I like the way she has a down to earth, practical marketing approach – she delivers marketing and communications work focused on targeted results. I watch and learn from Mel in the area of social marketing and think she is a real innovator in this area and I also think she is a brilliant networker – both astute and genuine.

The Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (and its predecessor the CRC for Construction Innovation) has benefitted enormously from Mel’s ability to deliver solutions for a diverse set of challenges – communications and media, event coordination and committee secretariat. The SBEnrc (and CRC) has engaged Mel Kettle as a consultant for five years. She has done an excellent job managing a number of projects for us, and has consistently delivered high quality work within tight timeframes. Mel’s professionalism, work ethic and enthusiasm make her a pleasure to work with.
Dr Keith Hampson, CEO, Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre
Mel Kettle gave an engaging and entertaining workshop about low cost marketing. Mel was a wonderful speaker, she was confident and interacted naturally with the audience. Her style was conversational and her language was simple, yet effective – not confusing the audience with unnecessary jargon. Instead she provided simple, yet effective strategies that all audience members could implement into their businesses. Mel’s advice really helped these business owners to take a new, fresh look at their marketing activity. The room was buzzing after her talk and I had so many wonderful comments from members afterwards.

Mel Kettle was contracted to develop and implement the communication and consultation for the Safer Construction Project. Her professional approach and clearly stated objectives enabled the project team and taskforce to remain focused and motivated. Mel’s personal communication skills and ability to manage a diverse range of opinions and points of view to reach a consensus was instrumental in ensuring the success of the project.
Tim Fleming, Operations Safety Manager, John Holland Group NSW/ACT Region
Mel developed our marketing plan with very little input from me, which is proving to be very effective in increasing my business. Mel has also produced some great brochures and a range of articles and information sheets on various tax topics that have received excellent client feedback.
Nathan Morris, Morris Accounting
We have used Mel since 2007 to manage a couple of large and complex projects for us – our annual report and associated partner reports. While the annual report requires her to produce a document that meets prescriptive Commonwealth government guidelines, the reports (of which there are about 20) need to meet a specific partner or industry sector’s specific interests and information needs, and consequently are very individual. Her organisational skills make annual report production more streamlined for us, her attention to detail is essential to the success of our range of reports, and her time management means that we always meet the deadlines for both projects despite them being within weeks of one another.
Corinna Lange, Communication Manager, Australian Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre for Emerging Infectious Disease
During the 18 months of my involvement in the Safer Construction project I was impressed and grateful for Mel’s clarity in communication, ability to meet deadlines, patience in facilitating numerous stakeholder needs and ability to produce materials of high quality. Mel’s ability to gather required information and act on it, together with (and perhaps due to) her high level of interpersonal skill allowed the project to be completed on time, with tangibles that the team members were proud to be associated with.
Verena Marshall, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Business, Curtin University of Technology
Mel’s ability to quickly understand the requirements and quirks of a diverse group of industry leaders, and our industry as a whole, was paramount to the success of the project. Her enthusiasm, energy and support for this project combined with her ability to meet tight timeframes, her interpersonal skills, and her sense of humour allowed us to produce an industry leading practice guide that the Taskforce is proud to be associated with. If you are looking for a natural communicator who is enthusiastic, organised and talented, then you should engage Mel.
